Filament
The thin stalk of a stamen that holds the anther up where pollinators can reach it.
A filament is the thread-like stalk that carries an anther. Its length and position decide where pollen lands on a visitor. In a hibiscus the filaments are joined into a long tube that sticks out of the flower. In a bottlebrush or a mimosa tree, the long coloured filaments are the showy part and the petals are tiny. In saffron the red threads are not filaments, although they look like them: they are stigmas.
