Stamen
The pollen-producing part of a flower, made of a thin stalk with a pollen sac at its tip.
Also: male part
A stamen has two pieces: a stalk called the filament and, on top of it, the anther, which makes and releases pollen. A lily has six large stamens that are easy to see. A rose or a poppy has a crowded ring of many. Florists often pinch the anthers off lilies because the orange pollen stains cloth and skin. In many double flowers, the stamens have been replaced by extra petals, which is why such flowers may offer little pollen to bees.
