Girona, Temps de Flors

For nine days in May, Girona's old town fills its courtyards, steps and churches with flower installations.

What happens

Temps de Flors, the time of flowers, began in Girona in the 1950s as a small flower show and has grown to cover the whole old town. For about nine days in mid May, artists, schools and neighbours build installations of flowers in more than a hundred places. Many are private courtyards, cloisters and cellars that are closed for the rest of the year. The broad stone staircase of the cathedral is covered each year with a new design. Entry is free and a walking route links the sites.
