Canang sari
A small daily offering of flowers in a woven palm-leaf tray, made by Balinese Hindus.
Also: canang
Canang sari are seen everywhere in Bali: on pavements, shop counters, shrines, dashboards and doorsteps. Each is a little square tray of young coconut leaf holding flowers of different colours, placed to face particular directions and linked with particular deities. Shredded pandan leaf, a few other symbolic items and a lit incense stick are added. They are made fresh and set out each day as thanks. Visitors should step around them and not over them.
