Wildflower
A flowering plant that grows without being planted or bred by people.
A wildflower is one that grows on its own in fields, woods, roadsides, deserts or mountains. It has not been changed by breeding. Bluebells in British woods, poppies in European wheat fields, lupins in Texas, daisies in Namaqualand and the flowers of the Kaas plateau in western India after the monsoon are well-known displays. Wildflower seed mixes are sold for sowing meadows. Picking or digging wild plants is restricted by law in many places, and it is best to leave them where they grow.
