Bathukamma
For nine days the women of Telangana build towers of wild flowers, sing around them and float them on water.

What happens
Bathukamma is the flower festival of Telangana, kept by women for nine days before Dussehra. Each afternoon they build a bathukamma, a cone of flowers stacked in rings on a brass plate, one colour to a layer. The flowers are the wild ones of the season, gathered from field edges. In the evening the women set their stacks down together, sing and clap in a circle around them, then carry them to a pond or tank and set them afloat. The last day, Saddula Bathukamma, has the largest stacks.
The flowers
Also part of it, and being written: Senna auriculata (Tangedu, the yellow flower that is the base of every stack.).
