Birth flower
A flower linked by custom to each month of the year, like a birthstone.
Also: birth month flower
A birth flower is the flower assigned to the month a person was born in. The lists are a matter of custom, not rule, and they differ between countries and between florists. In the English-speaking world, a common list gives the carnation to January, the daffodil to March, lily of the valley to May, the rose to June and the chrysanthemum to November. Many months have two flowers. They are used for birthday bouquets, jewellery and cards.
