Evergreen
Describes a plant that keeps green leaves all year round.
An evergreen replaces its leaves a few at a time, so it is never bare. Camellias, gardenias, rhododendrons, hollies, box, laurels and most conifers are evergreen. In gardens they give structure in winter, and clipped evergreens make hedges, parterres and topiary. In floristry, evergreen branches are the base of winter wreaths and garlands. Fir, pine, holly and ivy have been brought indoors at midwinter in Europe for many centuries.
