Wreath
A ring of flowers, leaves or branches, hung on a door, laid at a memorial or worn on the head.
A wreath is a closed circle of plant material built on a frame of wire, straw, vine or moss. The ring shape has long stood for continuity. Ancient Greeks and Romans gave wreaths of laurel, olive or oak as honours. Evergreen wreaths are hung on doors at Christmas in many countries, and Advent wreaths hold four candles. Wreaths of flowers are laid at funerals and war memorials. A small wreath worn on the head is usually called a flower crown.
