Shrub
A woody plant, smaller than a tree, with several stems rising from the base.
Also: bush
A shrub has woody stems that last from year to year, but it branches from the ground and has no single trunk. Roses, hibiscus, hydrangeas, azaleas, camellias, gardenias, lilacs and ixoras are shrubs. Many of the world's most used flowers come from them, including most roses for cutting and the jasmines grown for garlands in South India. Shrubs may be evergreen or deciduous, and most need pruning to keep flowering well.
