Hand-tied
A bouquet built in the hand with stems laid in a spiral, then tied at one point.
Also: hand-tied bouquet, spiral bouquet
To make a hand-tied bouquet the florist holds the first stem and adds each new one at a slant, turning the bunch a little each time. The stems form a spiral, the heads spread into a dome, and one tie at the narrowest point holds it all. A well-made one stands up on its own cut stems. It needs no foam or wire and can go straight into a vase, which is why it is the standard gift bouquet in much of Europe.
