Posy
A small, round bunch of flowers, easy to hold in one hand.
Also: nosegay
A posy is a compact bouquet with a domed top and short stems. It is the usual choice for bridesmaids and flower girls and a simple gift. Nosegay is an older English word for much the same thing, a small scented bunch held near the nose in times when streets smelled bad. Herbs such as lavender, rosemary and mint are often tucked in with the flowers. A posy with a message spelled out in flower meanings is often called a tussie-mussie.
