A flower show brings plants and people together for a few days. Nurseries show new cultivars, designers build show gardens, and amateurs compete for prizes with their best blooms. The Chelsea Flower Show in London, run by the Royal Horticultural Society each May, is the best known. The Philadelphia Flower Show in the United States has a long history too. In India, Lalbagh in Bengaluru holds large shows around Republic Day and Independence Day.
