Also: mogra gajra
A gajra is a small garland made for wearing. Jasmine buds are the classic flower, strung tightly so they open through the evening and scent the hair. It is wrapped round a bun, pinned along a plait or tied on the wrist. Gajras are worn at weddings, festivals and classical dance performances, and in many towns are sold fresh each evening by street sellers. In South India, long strands of jasmine in the hair are an everyday habit as well as a festive one.
